This is Homework!
Well, a reading anyways.
Today in class the guys read page 191-195, everything about the Suez crisis, and the girls read everything on the Korean War, pages 187 -191.
For homework tonight, Mrs. Loconte wants you to read the section you did not read in class.
Also, begin studying for that test on Tuesday!

This is War!! (sort of)
Tomorrow is the Test on the Cold War so remember to read over the chpt, go through all the review pages, and maybe check out the ppt that Mrs. Loconte has so graciously shared with us.
Also complete the Focus Questions for some extra review and for homework.
Hmm...did you know that everyday you swallow about a quart (almost a liter) of snot? Yum.

Help?
Last year, I put together a powerpoint presentation. It is for a different textbook, but perhaps you will find it useful.

Wacky Stevenson Wednesday
Today in class, Claire and Charissa graciously performed their original composition (something along the lines of ("Say Something, Germany") which was, in a word, legendary.
We also were taught by the wacky, HIlarious Prof Stevenson (he's a gem) about the Prague Spring in Czechoslovakia as well as the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Your homework is to read about the War in Vietnam (pg 160-165), no questions.
Thanks all, have a good night and I'll see most of you--meaning: EVERYONE except Britt--tomorrow on ze fieldtrip. buh-bye now :)

Your weekend assignments are to study for the quiz on Tuesday (it's on everything we've learnt so far) as well preppin' that bonus assignment.
Did you know... after Jesus died and the curtain was torn in two, many holy people were raised from the dead and wandered among the living (Matt. 27:52).
Happy Easter.

Hurray for New Posts
From Claire:
Hey guys!
Just finish the reading from page 145 -147 and be prepared to discuss what we've read in class tomorrow.
I also want to challenge you guys to reflect on the movie we finished watching today. In the same way that Tom cruise and his troops were willing to give up everything and die for the good of their country and world, Jesus came to earth thousands of years before and demonstrated a similar passion. And both of these sacrifices were not in vain. While the 'traitors', led by Tom Cruise were fighting for freedom and liberation, Jesus liberated us when he died on the cross and offered us free access to eternal life when we accept his gift.
See you all tomorrow!

Hand in your entry for the essay contest by tomorrow. Make sure you sent Mrs. Loconte your release forms!
Long relaxing weekend? HA no, read pages 139-145 in the textbook (not the part on Czech). Bonus assignment due the day after easter Monday and not to mention the current events quiz this coming Monday. On the bright side, we're watching Valkyrie when we get back, so bring lots of snacks for everyone to enjoy.
Goodbye.

What Is....World War Two?
I'm sure I don't even need to say this but there is a chapter test tomorrow so make sure you study real hard tonight! Questions from today's review discussion and jeopardy review game may pop up or be helpful in your revising.
We also were given a bonus assignment. To create a song. Get on that for up to 2% added to your final grade!
Also don't forget that we have our focus questions due and our WWII timeline due.
(hey one of the focus questions is to list major events in WWII so that might be
helpful in creating your timeline.)
and of course, another silly horrible histories sketch. This recaps some things that led up to WWII

Today's class and why a quiz on Monday would be beneficial to the class
In class today, we took notes on World War II, focusing mainly on the Japanese and their influence in the Pacific. Take some time to look over the "In Review" questions on page 119 as we will be starting class tomorrow with those.
Another thing I'd like you all to consider is the possibility of having a short quiz on WWII this coming Monday. I believe it is beneficial for the following reasons:
1. The World War II chapter is around 40 pages long and obtains many important facts - a substantial amount to study. This quiz would be a motivator for us to tackle some of this material in preparation for the chapter test. In other words, it would serve as a stepping stone to the test.
2. Quizzes account for 10% of the term mark. We have only had 1 quiz thus far, which means that 1 quiz would account for that entire 10%, whereas one chapter test would only stand at around 8.3% (25% weight divided by 3 tests) of our overall mark at the end of the term. The fact that we are getting more credit for a short quiz than we are for an entire chapter test that we've all studied hard on, does not make sense to me.
3. We're all going to have to study everything on WWII anyways, why not take this chance to get some extra marks?
There you have it, those are my reasons on how a quiz on Monday would benefit the class. Please comment if you have any questions or concerns.

And on the Second Day...
Hollah, my party people.
Today we presented our propaganda images to the class and further explored the cruel nature of propaganda back in the day. As well, we also discussed whether propaganda is still evident today, and how propaganda has changed over the years. Do we still experience propaganda like the citizens of Germany, Britain, and other nations had at the time? What's changed? How much influence does propaganda still hold in the lives of many today? Food for thought.
Our assignment tonight is to answer the Interpreting Questions found on the maps of page 106 and 109, respectively.
Study hard, party hard.
