The Curtis Show

Not sure who my blogger is today but let me just update the homework for everybody.

1. Read the section on Antisemitism in Chapter 4. Its a small section so I expect that to be completed.
2. There was a handout that asks you to write a one page response (double-spaced) on Antisemitism
in Europe and the Middle East. Use three sources (one may be the book).
3. The chapter 3 test is Monday, so obviously, prepare for that.
4. Upcoming Case Study/Biographies are as follows: Tues- Bianca, Wed- Jan, Thurs- Jordan

a solo presentation.

So today, Colleen presented her part of the presentation about Stalin. After her presentation, we read Hilter's Rise to Power and the summary and afterwards discussed the questions at the end of the chapter. We worked a bit of the true and false worksheet. For tomorrow, Colleen will be presenting her Case Study and either Jordan and I or Curtis will present our presentations. Oh and Taylor, Mrs. Loconte told me to remind you that your case study will need to be presented on Wednesday.

Lenin

So…this is a day late (oops!), but I thought I’d still blog despite that fact. Yesterday Jan did a very good job presenting Lenin. We watched part of a documentary and then successfully made it to the end of the period without finishing the chapter, but talking about random current events instead. There is no homework so have a great weekend! (Remember, test on the 4th!)

We almost finished reading about Hitler's rise to power.

Everybody's project's are due tomorrow: Curtis email yours to me if you are not here, but I am hoping you will be.

We have set the date of the test: March 4th, I believe (?)

Go ahead and wrap-up last minute details for your projects now.

A Lesson Learned

So today we began class with only four students until we were later joined by the remainder of our classmates, equally a grand total of six whole students. Mrs. Loconte cracked down on some unsportsmanlike locobucks dealings. We got our tests back (although this “we” does not include me seeing as I have not yet taken the test) and people were generally displeased with their marks. Let this be a lesson: READ THROUGH QUESTIONS CAREFULLY. We then reviewed chapter 2 which there will be a test on during Friday’s class, at least I think that’s when it will happen. “I would rather lose in a cause that will someday win, than win in a cause that will someday lose.” President Woodrow Wilson. We went over some notes and then Friday’s homework. After, we were assigned homework for tomorrow: read Post-War Security and do questions 9-14 on page 27. I wasn’t sure if we decided to do the history quote thing, but as you can see, I went with it.

Autarky: Word of the Day

Today we further discussed what the responsibility of the nation-state is. We went over the quotes of four famous philosopher and tried to identify what were the main points of each person. We also reviewed the 10 terms on the board and talked about things like diplomacy, self-sufficiency, 'reach'. "History shall be kind to me for I intend to write it". Winston Churchill. Deborah is still in our class and that's good for everybody. The homework is simply this: Write a 200 word response (approx) on what the role of the nation and the individual should be. Include in your response which philosopher you align yourself with and why.

Nation-States, Conflict, and Cooperation

Machiavelli  said a prince must only and always concern himself with war. Good thing you guys are just students and you have to only complete 10 vocab words and finish reading ch. 1. I would tell you what the vocab words are, but  I saw you write them all down...so I won't.
See you tomorrow.
Don't forget to send me your email address.
